CHILD ABUSE
If I was your governor the safety of my citizens would be number one on my list both state and federal constitution demand it.
Child abuse is among the most heinous of crimes. Even among hardened criminals, those convicted of child abuse are among the lowest of the low. In my administration, I would push for harsher punishment for anyone abusing minor children whether it be sexual, physical, or mental torment. Child abuse will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Additionally, I will push for our legislators to evaluate existing assistance programs and increase coverage and protection of any child who becomes the victim of such abuse.

Knowels vs Iowa ----I believe in Knowles vs. Iowa as depicted in a recent issues of USA TODAY. The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that police officers cannot automatically search a vehicle after a routine stop . All justices agree that no further evidence of excessive speed was going to be found either on the person or in the passenger compartment of the car. Chief Justice W.Rehnquist said the law which was designed to protect officers during an arrest did not apply in relatives brief encounter such as a traffic stop this was their reasoning for this decision. I strongly believe in Constitutional rights, and if elected, my actions will be….if it is not Constitutional….I will use the power of my pen to remove unconstitutional items from our society. I hope this will also have a side effect of lowering the number of lawsuits that eats away our budgets

WASTE AND MISMANAGEMENT
What happens to the millions and millions of dollars the state collects from taxes, legal and illegal traffic fines, business fees , and even license plates? THERE CURRENTLY IS NO FULL ACCOUNTABILITY for much of this money. The politicians tell us they can account for it all, but can they really? What about those “buddy” contracts for work not ever done? Work that is really not needed to be done? Especially in the highways. Legislators have been extorting more money for education, for example, throughout my memory, and IT NEVER DOES ANY GOOD. They still keep crying for more funds. More funds to do what? If they use the funds the way they have in the past, there will be no end to it all.
In my administration, I will question every dollar spent, look into every contract, examine every “deal” the current politicians have developed, and I guarantee you, dear voter, that I will save enough money to bring this state into surplus the very first year! Not only that, I will have made a lot of people angry because their gravy train of your tax dollars has come to a screeching halt.

LOBBISTS

The lobbyist, with their paid special interests, have serious negative impact on our political system. It is only human nature, that if one of our lawmakers is offered a bunch of money, or something, to pass a bill that favors a special interest, they have a personal interest in doing so. This type of behavior is ruining our economy!

If elected, I propose to give our legislators a 140% pay raise. The entire cost for that would be about ten million dollars. The idea is that if a legislator is paid well enough to do his job, he or she may not be so tempted to be “on the take” for special interest.
